Arthritis

Information, guidance and advice for people with arthritis and their carers and families.

Arthritis is a condition which causes pain and inflammation of the joints and bones. There are several different types of arthritis but the most common are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, and it can affect people of all ages.

It is important to see your GP if you have any signs or symptoms of arthritis, so they can refer to further treatments. However, improving your overall health and wellbeing can have a positive impact on your symptoms.

Weight management

Maintaining your weight is a key factor in personal wellbeing, in addition to lowering the risk of different diseases, conditions and cancers associated with being overweight and weight gain.

Throughout the UK, many people suffer from weight gain. Statistically, 1 in 4 adults across the UK are clinically obese (a term used to describe a person overweight and carrying a lot of body fat).

The innovative MyWeightMatters programme available through Essex Wellbeing Services aims to help you to manage your weight, improve your health and enhance your quality of life.
