Oakwood Podiatry is introducing a free annual foot health check for local residents. This service will be available once a month, aiming to educate the community on the importance of foot health and support overall well-being.
Many individuals do not qualify for NHS podiatry services but may also struggle to afford private care. This initiative is designed to bridge that gap and provide essential foot health assessments to those who may otherwise go without.
People with diabetes are at a higher risk of developing foot complications, making regular checks crucial for early detection and prevention. While diabetic patients often receive foot health checks from nurses, podiatrists have specialist expertise in foot care. Additionally, routine foot health checks for non-diabetic patients are not widely available through the NHS, leaving some individuals without access to any foot care services.
The free health check includes neurological and vascular assessments, along with a full foot examination.
The first clinic will take place on 15th April 2025, from 9am to 5pm.
